Step by Step Instructions
How to Use
When Seeding a New Lawn
- One 5.6 lb. bag covers 835 sq. ft. of a new lawn.
- Rake the area you will be seeding to loosen the top layer of soil (roughly 2″” deep). Remove any dead grass or debris to ensure seed-to-soil contact.
- Apply using a Scotts spreader – Set a Scotts Hand-Held Spreader at 5. Go over the lawn 4x. Set a Scotts Broadcast/Rotary Spreader to 15. Set a Scotts Drop Spreader at 16.5. Go over the lawn 4x. Set a Scotts Wizz Spreader to 6. Go over the lawn 2x. Set a Scotts Elite Spreader to 11.
- After applying, lightly rake the product into the soil. Ensure it is covered just beneath the soil surface.
- Water daily to keep the soil surface moist until the seedlings reach at least 2 in. tall.
When Overseeding an Existing Lawn
- One 5.6 lb. bag covers 2,800 sq. ft. when overseeding an existing lawn.
- Mow the area to a height of approximately 2 in. or use the lowest mower setting. Rake the area you will be seeding to loosen the top layer of soil. Remove any dead grass or debris to ensure seed-to-soil contact.
- Apply using a Scotts spreader – Set a Scotts Hand-Held Spreader at 5. Set a Scotts Broadcast/Rotary Spreader to 6. Set a Scotts Drop Spreader at 17. Set a Scotts Wizz Spreader to 5 1/4. Set a Scotts Elite Spreader to 7.
- Water daily to keep the soil surface moist until the seedlings reach at least 2 in. tall. You can start to mow again when the lawn reaches the desired mowing height.
